OUR SYSTEM — LANDING STATION

Landing
Station

The Landing Station. Easy-to-use interface for sending and receiving packages 24/7. Automated loading and unloading. Automated charging and battery swapping for M2 drones.

End-to-end Autonomy and Safety

Matternet's Drone Delivery System is fully autonomous. The Landing Station enables end-to-end autonomy by providing a safe place for drones to land, swap batteries, pick up or deliver packages, and park shield from weather without a human operator on site.

Designed for tight spaces, the Landing Station only requires an area equivalent to two parking spots and can be installed in both quiet and busy areas. Its four petals open to reveal a landing platform at a height of 2.1 meters (7 feet), keeping it out of reach from people nearby.

Best-in-class Economics

The Landing Station is designed to swap a battery and insert a package into the Matternet Drone in under 60 seconds, achieving best-in-class turnaround time and maximizing aircraft utilization. It charges batteries in a temperature-controlled environment, maximizing their life. Built to last for at least 5 years with minimal maintenance, it incurs annual costs of less than 10% of the cost of a human operator.

With minimal real estate needs, the Landing Station can be conveniently installed at customer locations — next to a lab or clinic entrance, or behind a pharmacy or restaurant. These stations, distributed in cities and suburbs, power Matternet's decentralized logistics network, eliminating the need for costly centralized drone hubs and improving unit economics by avoiding delivery dead legs.

B2B and B2C

For healthcare or industrial logistics, Landing Stations can be installed at each facility in the network, allowing customers to send or receive packages seamlessly. When a customer wants to send a package, they scan their ID card, insert the package into the station, and the system handles the rest. Upon delivery, the package is kept in secure, temperature-controlled storage inside the station. The customer receives a notification and can pick up the package at their convenience.

For home delivery of pharmacy items, e-commerce packages, or food, Landing Stations are installed next to pharmacies, depots, stores, or restaurants. Customers can insert packages into the station, and the next available drone will pick them up and deliver them to their customers’ homes.
